Goldco vs Noble Gold Investments: Fees, Minimums, Custodians

Updated October 18, 2026Facts checked against sources on October 18, 2026

The short answer

Goldco's pages state a generally required $25,000 minimum, a $50 setup fee and no named custodian. Noble Gold Investments' pages state a $20,000 IRA minimum, two conflicting fee sets and names several custodians on one page, while Goldco's pages name none. Neither publishes a metals spread. These are company statements as of October 2026; we rank neither.

This page puts two dealers next to each other using the same fields: Goldco and Noble Gold Investments. It follows our research methodology and is part of our library to compare Gold IRA companies side by side. We do not rank companies, name a winner or recommend either.

A Gold IRA is a self-directed Individual Retirement Account (IRA) that holds physical metal. Three parties usually take part. The dealer sells the metal, the custodian legally holds the IRA, and the depository stores the metal. Both companies here are dealers. Our guide to the custodian, dealer and depository explains the roles.

Dates matter. We re-read both companies' own pages on 2026-10-18. Facts we did not re-open are marked "as of our 2026-10-15 check." Companies change terms without notice; confirm everything in writing. Company columns are the company's own claims unless we say otherwise.

What are the fees at each company?

Both companies' pages disagree with themselves, so we show each version.

Sources: Goldco's cost article and FAQ article; Noble Gold's Gold IRA, Silver IRA, Support and What Is a Gold IRA? pages.

Our arithmetic from the stated figures: Noble Gold's IRA pages add up to $335 in year one ($50 + $125 + $160) and its Support figures to $355 ($80 + $275). Goldco's cost page says "about $275-325 in the first year."

Goldco's cost page says it was "updated in February 2025." Its FAQ shows page metadata dates in 2024 (published January, modified September), its minimum article shows 2023 and 2025 (published and modified), and Noble Gold's pages show no dates. See our guides to custodian fees and storage fees.

Noble Gold's Gold IRA page says it is "the only custodian offering a flat-fee structure" and its home page makes a "lowest fees" claim. We did not test either claim. That page calls Noble Gold a "custodian," while its Support page names separate outside custodians.

What are the minimums?

GoldcoNoble Gold Investments
IRA minimum"we generally require a minimum of $25,000 to start a gold IRA" (cost page); "at least $25,000 available to roll over" (FAQ)"Our Gold IRA minimum investment is $20,000"; Silver IRA minimum also $20,000
Cash purchaseNot stated on pages we read$10,000 listed on the Gold IRA page; the home page states no minimum
OtherMinimum article says "it depends" and that in theory "You really don't need much to start a gold IRA""free consultation with no minimum required to speak with a specialist"

Goldco's minimum article discusses contribution limits and says "it depends"; its cost and FAQ pages state what the company generally requires. See our page on minimum investment.

Which custodian and depository does each company name?

Goldco. No Goldco page we opened names a custodian or depository. They use general wording such as "established gold IRA custodians" (5 Steps page) and "experienced custodians" (5 Reasons page).

Noble Gold Investments. Its IRA pages name no custodian and say it will connect you with "a trusted precious metals IRA custodian." Its Support page names "Equity Institutional" in the Gold IRA answer, "New Direction IRA Services" in the Silver IRA answer, and "Equity Trust IRA" in the answer about moving funds. For storage, the Support page says Noble Gold "has partnered with International Depository Services (IDS)," and says IDS assets are insured under an all-risk policy underwritten by Lloyd's of London. Its "What Is a Gold IRA?" article says "our secure Texas depository" without naming a third party; its Texas storage page names IDS in Dallas.

What the custodians' own pages show. Equity Trust's precious metals client page lists five depositories: A-Mark Global Logistics (Loomis Intl), Brink's, Delaware Depository, International Depository Services and Texas Bullion Depository. New Direction's home page says physical custody is provided by First Trust Company of Onaga, in Kansas.

As of our 2026-10-15 check, the IRS list of approved nonbank trustees and custodians (April 1, 2026 version) did not show Equity Trust, New Direction, Noble Gold or Golden Bull. We draw no legal conclusion.

What do the metals cost, beyond account fees?

The spot price is the market price for one troy ounce. A dealer sells above spot and buys back below it; the gap is the spread. The CFTC's customer advisory says "A dealer will always sell metal above the spot price and buy it back below the spot price," and suggests you "Ask how much you would receive if you had to sell back the metal tomorrow" (as of our 2026-10-15 check).

  • Goldco: none of the pages we re-read states a markup, premium or spread.
  • Noble Gold: its Support page says "We offer a flat fee structure when you acquire the metals from us," with no dollar figure. Its Gold IRA page says "transparent, competitive pricing with no hidden fees." Its "What Is a Gold IRA?" page says paying a markup is "common" and that commissions are "typically modest, with most averaging around $40." The page does not say that $40 is Noble Gold's figure.

Our guide to dealer premiums and markups shows how to compare quotes.

What do they say about buying back your metals?

GoldcoNoble Gold Investments
Main wording"Goldco guarantees to buy back your metals at the highest price.*"Support page refers to a "Buyback program"
ConditionsFootnote: "buy back metals purchased from Goldco at any time"; the "highest price" guarantee "applies after three years from initial purchase"; "No specific buy back rates guaranteed"; see "your customer agreement"None found on the pages we read; Silver IRA page has no buyback statement
Price or fee termsNone statedNone stated

Goldco's About page promises "the industry's highest buyback guarantee PLUS no fees when you're ready to liquidate," but says nothing about custodian fees, so we do not read it as a statement that no fees apply.

Noble Gold calls its program "top-rated"; we could not tie that to any rating. See our guide on buyback policies and liquidation costs.

What do their website and contract terms say?

ItemGoldcoNoble Gold Investments
Arbitration, class waiver, governing law, venueNone found on Terms or Privacy pagesNone found on Terms page
Shipping"Registered/Insured U.S. Mail, UPS & Federal Express upon receipt of good funds"; packages "fully insured"Terms say an order "may not be shipped until forty-five (45) business days after receipt of good funds"; the Home Delivery page says delivery "in about five business days"
Lost or stolenTerms heading "Items Lost or Stolen in Transit"; we did not summarize its textTerms call the remedy the customer's "sole and exclusive remedy"
DisclaimersCannot "guarantee, assure, or promise future market movement"; "not licensed financial advisors""makes no representations or guarantees that metals purchased will appreciate in value"

Noble Gold's Terms page also contains the sentence "Goldco shall make reasonable efforts ship metals within five to fourteen (5-14) business days," and a testimonials sentence that refers to "goldco.com." We draw no conclusion from these references. Website terms are not the sales agreement; arbitration language may sit in documents we could not see.

What does each company's BBB profile show?

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) publishes business profiles, customer reviews and complaint records. Our tools could not open BBB pages. Everything below comes from screenshots viewed by the site owner on 2026-10-15 and is not verified further.

Alternate namesGoldco Direct LLCNoble Gold; Golden Bull, LLC
Customer reviews4.81 average of 1,7164.98 average of 241

Complaints, last 12 months361

Review averages are customers' scores, not BBB's rating. Complaint counts are not comparable between firms of different size and transaction volume, and a count by itself implies nothing about either company. BBB's page says it does not verify information from third parties, does not endorse any business, and that the nature of complaints and responses can matter more than the number. It also says displayed complaint text might not represent all complaints filed.

All complaints are consumers' allegations, and the companies' replies are their own statements. The screenshots show no judgment or order for either company.

  • Goldco: the page lists many complaints with company responses. Only the first two were read. One (08/25/2026) alleged a family member could not confirm access to an inherited account; Goldco replied that the person was not an authorized party. The other (08/21/2026) alleged deceptive sales representations, excessive markups on specialty coins and an obstructed liquidation.
  • Noble Gold: three complaints were read. One (02/16/2026, product issues, resolved) alleged concerns about the purity of silver items, and a customer answer says the consumer was later satisfied the silver is pure. One (07/23/2025) alleged high undisclosed fees or commission on purchase and buy-back; the company's replies say spreads vary and the matter was resolved, which is the company's account. One (12/08/2023) alleged inconsistent tax information, and the company said it found no communication matching the claim.

Noble Gold's home page claims "265+ Reviews on Better Business Bureau," while the screenshots show 241.

What do public records show for each company?

Goldco, court record (re-read 2026-10-18). In Goldco Direct, LLC v. Wilson, No. 4:18-CV-850-KOB, the Northern District of Alabama opinion of March 27, 2019 lists Goldco Direct, LLC as plaintiff. The court denied one defendant's motion to dismiss and his motion to transfer the case to the Central District of California. It did not decide the underlying claims, and we do not know how it ended.

Goldco, settlement (re-read 2026-10-18). ClassAction.org reports a $2,000,000 settlement in Summerton v. Goldco Direct LLC, a class action alleging that Goldco Direct sent more than one marketing text within a 12-month period to consumers who had asked to unsubscribe and whose numbers were on the National Do-Not-Call Registry. It does not say whether Goldco admitted wrongdoing. As of our 2026-10-15 check, a TCPAWorld report names the Western District of Wisconsin. A settlement is not a finding that the allegations were true. We did not open the docket.

Noble Gold. We found no lawsuit, order or regulator action in the searches above.

Where do each company's own pages disagree?

Goldco

  • Annual account fee: $125 (cost page) versus "around $80" (FAQ).
  • Yearly total: about $225 (cost page), about $200 (FAQ), $200-300 (minimum article).
  • Buyback: "guarantees ... the highest price" and "no fees" on liquidation (About) versus "No specific buy back rates guaranteed" and a three-year condition (5 Reasons footnote).
  • Awards: the home page lists "2025 Inc. Regionals: Pacific Ranked #18," while the About page says "Named the #1 Precious Metals Company on the 2025 INC5000." These appear to be different lists, and we repeat neither as fact.

Noble Gold Investments

  • Setup fee: $50 (IRA pages) versus $80 (Support and "What Is a Gold IRA?").
  • Storage: $160 (IRA pages) versus $150 segregated (Support). The Support page cites $160 for commingled storage, which it says it does not recommend.
  • Custodian: unnamed on IRA pages, three names on the Support page.
  • Legal entity: two different names in footers.
  • Years in business: the home page says "More than 20 Years," while the Who We Are page says "For more than a decade" and gives no founding year. BBB lists a business start of 5/13/2016.

What differs and what does not?

Differences stated by the companies

  • Minimum: Goldco "generally" $25,000; Noble Gold $20,000 for IRAs.
  • Named custodians: Goldco none; Noble Gold names Equity Institutional, New Direction IRA Services and Equity Trust IRA on one page.
  • Named depository: Goldco none; Noble Gold names IDS.
  • Buyback: Goldco publishes a three-year condition and a no-specific-rates footnote; Noble Gold publishes no terms we found.
  • Listed extra fees: Noble Gold lists wire, in-kind distribution and closure fees on its IRA pages; Goldco's pages list none.
  • BBB: Goldco shows 72 complaints in three years against Noble Gold's 3, with the volume caveat above. Both show A+.

Similarities

  • Both state a $125 annual account or custody fee on at least one page, and both give two versions of at least one fee.
  • Neither publishes a markup, premium or spread on the pages we read.
  • Neither website's terms contains arbitration or class waiver text.
  • Both CFPB name searches returned nothing, as of 2026-10-15.
