Gold IRA Fee Database: Published Fees by Company and Custodian

Updated October 17, 2026Facts checked against sources on October 17, 2026

The short answer

This database copies published Gold IRA fees from our company, custodian and depository pages. Each row shows the figure as published, the page it came from, that page's verified date and the primary source it rests on. Missing figures read "not on file." Entries are alphabetical, unranked and not recommendations. Fees change, so confirm them in writing.

This database collects the fees that companies, custodians and depositories have published, as our own pages recorded them. It belongs to our guide to Gold IRA fees and costs. Every row links to the page on this site where the figure first appeared and shows the date that page was verified. We compiled the database on 2026-10-17 from pages already published here. We did not open the original sources again for this page.

Entries are in alphabetical order inside each section. Nothing here is a ranking, a price comparison or a recommendation. The order carries no meaning.

How do you read this database?

Each row has five parts.

  • Entity. The company, custodian or depository, linked to our page about it.
  • Fee item. The kind of charge, or a minimum or spread when the page recorded one.
  • Figure as published. The wording and numbers as our page copied them. Quotation marks show the entity's own words.
  • Verified. The date in the front matter of our page, not the date the entity last changed its fee. Fees can have changed since.
  • Primary-source citation. The title of the entity's own page or document that our page cited for the figure.

"Not on file" means our page did not find the figure. It does not mean the fee is zero, waived or absent. Entities that publish no figure may still charge one.

Three cautions apply to every row.

  1. Company figures are claims. Rows in the company tables read "According to the company's website." No independent source confirmed them.
  2. Rows are not comparable. Entities bundle services differently, use different dates and measure fees on different bases. Do not add up one entity's rows and compare the total with another's. Ask each provider for a dated total for your own account.
  3. Dealer prices are separate. A dealer's markup over the spot price, and the gap between its selling and buying prices (the spread), are listed only where the company published them. Most did not.

How was this database built?

Copied, not re-researched. Each figure was copied from a published page on this site: company reviews, custodian profiles, depository profiles and our fee guides. We added no new external facts. Where a page quoted a fee, we kept its numbers and quotation marks.

One figure per source, conflicts shown. If two pages, or one page in two places, gave different figures, we show both and list the conflict in the conflicts and caveats section below. We did not pick a winner.

Missing figures are flagged. Where a page said an entity did not publish a figure, the row reads "not on file."

Re-verification. We plan to re-verify every source page quarterly and to update this database when it changes. Until then, treat the verified date in each row as the age of the figure.

What is left out. Review pages for 15 companies are included. Our review of Augusta Precious Metals is not copied here; you can read it on its own page: Augusta Precious Metals review. Fees that a page left out because the source layout was unreadable are not in this database either.

What fees do companies say they charge?

These tables list what each dealer's own website says. A dealer is the company that sells you the metal. It is usually not the custodian that holds your IRA or the depository that stores the metal. Account fees may therefore be set by a different company than the one that quotes them. For how the roles differ, see our guide to the custodian, dealer and depository.

What do depositories publish?

A depository is the vault that stores the metal. For IRAs, the custodian usually arranges storage, and the custodian may pass on or add to the depository's charges.

What conflicts and caveats should you know about?

These are the conflicts and gaps that our own pages flagged. In each case we show both figures. We did not resolve them.

Company pages that disagree with themselves

  • Goldco. The cost article gives a $125 annual account fee, the FAQ article "around $80," and the totals are "about $225," roughly $200 and "about $200-300" a year. The cost article's $225 matches only the non-segregated case: $125 plus $150 for segregated storage is $275. The company names no custodian.
  • Allegiance Gold. The page lists $275 as the segregated total, but its own components, $125 plus $175, add to $300. The $225 commingled total does add up. The page does not say which custodian its figures come from, and the $10,000 minimum is second-hand.
  • American Hartford Gold. Current pages give no fee table. A 2020 guide gives $75 or $125 annual fees, a 2024 guide mentions an annual fee without an amount, and storage is a flat $100 in one guide and $100 or $150 in the other. The company's custodian is Equity Trust on one page and STRATA in a 2019 guide.
  • Birch Gold Group. Storage and insurance is $110 on most pages and $100 on the Silver IRA page. The first-year waiver is worded four ways. The company's custodian article says setup, transfer and transaction fees are each "somewhere between $30 and $50." Birch's $125 and $110 do not exactly match the Equity Trust or GoldStar schedules the review opened.
  • Lear Capital. The FAQ states $315 then $235. The fee pages state $315 to $365 then $235 to $285. Lear names Equity Trust on two pages and Self Directed IRA Services, Inc. in the FAQ. The $10,000 minimum appears only on the fee page.
  • Noble Gold Investments. Setup is $50 on the Gold IRA and Silver IRA pages and $80 on the Support page. Storage is $160 or $150, and the Support page gives a flat $275 a year. Noble's IRA pages list $75 for in-kind distribution, where the Equity Trust Institutional schedule it was compared with shows $50. The Support page names three custodian labels: Equity Institutional, New Direction IRA Services and Equity Trust IRA.
  • U.S. Gold Bureau. The IRA page says "50,000" with no dollar sign. The FAQ gives a $99 minimum order.
  • Priority Gold. The fees it attributes to Equity Trust match the Institutional schedule for setup, $125 annual, storage, wire and termination. The Institutional schedule lists liquidation at $10 per asset capped at $30 where the article says $30, and in-kind transfers at $50 where the article says $125 per transfer out. Equity Trust's Universal schedule, as our profile read it, shows maintenance from $350 and $50 for in-kind. The Legacy Retail schedule shows $125 for taking metals in kind. The Priority review did not open that schedule, so we do not know which schedule the article draws on.

Custodian figures that conflict or are unreadable

  • New Direction (NDTCO). The Money Metals Exchange review says the table columns of the NDTCO schedule came out "scrambled," so it used only lines it could match. The JM Bullion review says the PDF text was jumbled and shows only labeled figures. That review also quotes the schedule as saying "All annual fees are per asset" and that transfers out and distributions are "Calculated as .5% of value of the transfer/distribution with minimum and maximum." The NDTCO profile does not list either point. An NDTCO application PDF hosted by Money Metals shows header text about an account-opening fee of "$75.00" on paper or "$30.00" online. Our NDTCO row shows setup as not on file. The profile also says NDTCO's fees page showed no amounts, so we cannot say whether V.101524 is current.
  • uDirect and American Estate & Trust. uDirect's fee page: $275 annual and $15 wire, $175 complete termination. The American Estate & Trust schedule as our fee guide read it: "Qualified Accounts Annual" $400, $30 wire, $250 full transfer out. Storage rates and the $75 in-kind handling fee match. Our custodian fees guide, in a separate table, lists American Estate & Trust's annual fee as "not listed in the section we read," while our hidden fees guide lists $400. The legal name also differs: "Inc" on the Nevada list, "LC" on uDirect's page.
  • STRATA. The profile reads setup as "$50 (waived for electronic)." Our custodian fees guide says it did not confirm how the page pairs the waiver and the $50. The guide also labels $100 as an "asset re-registration (transfer out, distribution or reinstatement)," while the profile lists $250 for closure or reinstatement and $100 as a cash transfer out.
  • GoldStar. The profile lists $150 maintenance and $150 asset holding for a precious metals IRA. The Birch review adds that GoldStar's schedule lists a separate $90 annual maintenance fee for self-directed IRAs generally, and says only one maintenance fee is charged, "based on the asset type with the greater fee."
  • Equity Trust. The Universal and Legacy Retail schedules differ on selling, in-kind distributions and maintenance brackets. The Legacy top bracket is misprinted, and the third (institutional) schedule was not reviewed in the profile. Other reviews (Noble Gold, Priority Gold) read an Institutional schedule, form FS-0004-02 "Rev. 1104625," that lists a $125 precious metals annual fee, $50 setup, $30 wire, $50 per in-kind transfer or distribution, $250 full termination and the same storage fees.
  • Left-out lines. The Madison profile left out wire, transfer and account-closing charges because it could not pair each amount with its label.

Depository figures and names

  • Delaware Depository. Its undated schedule gives 0.50% (non-segregated) and 1.5% (segregated) a year. Custodians that use it describe storage differently: Madison "$100 minimum" with "$1 per $1,000" above $100,000, STRATA $115 or $175, GoldStar $125 or $225 minimum, Equity Trust $110 or $160. We cannot tell which accounts the depository's schedule covers, including IRA accounts routed through a custodian.
  • Brink's and CNT. The only figures on file come from custodian forms dated 2017 and 2016. They apply to that custodian, and today's fees may differ. Neither depository's own pages publish IRA rates.
  • Texas Bullion Depository. Posted rates exclude IRAs. STRATA and GoldStar name a "Texas Precious Metals Depository" in Shiner, Texas, while Equity Trust lists the "Texas Bullion Depository," which our profile places in Leander. We have not confirmed whether the names refer to one operation.

Caveats that apply to every row

  • Fee schedules may change without notice. Several show no date.
  • Third-party review sites sometimes quote different figures. For example, two outside sites described Monetary Gold's storage at about $100 a year, which Monetary Gold's own pages do not state, and one said it requires a $10,000 minimum, where the company's FAQ says "$5000 to $10000, depending on the custodian's requirements." We did not use them as sources.
  • Complaint, lawsuit and regulator information is outside this database. See each review.

Where do you go from here?

Use the database to build a question list, not to pick a provider. Ask each company, custodian and depository for a current, dated fee schedule in writing, ask who bills each charge, and ask for a dollar total for your own account and holding period. Our guides to custodian fees, storage fees, minimum investment and hidden fees explain each charge. A fee-only financial planner or tax professional can help you weigh the answers.
